FEI Japan officially launched with a technical conference in Tokyo in February 2012. The FEI Japan Chapter is spearheaded by Greg Fenich, chief financial officer, Microsoft Corporation Japan, who serves as FEI Japan Chapter president. Additional board members leading the chapter include Tom Clark, vice president, Asia, General Electric Capital Corp., and Osamu Yanagisawa, chief financial officer, Intel Corporation Japan.
FEI Japan provides opportunities for peer-to-peer networking and communications, with the intent to eventually provide advocacy efforts for the senior-level financial executives living and working in Japan, for both U.S. multinational and Japanese-headquartered companies. FEI Japan will strive to offer opportunities for its membership to obtain continuing professional education (CPE) credits through scheduled events, and launched a digital version of Financial Executive Japan magazine in conjunction with its February 2012 conference.
Additional membership benefits are being explored and developed and will include, for example, an electronic newsletter Executive Express Japan, compiled in partnership with a global news agency. Initial information will be made available in English, with Japanese translation of relevant materials.
Annual membership in FEI Japan includes membership with FEI Headquarters and the FEI Japan Chapter, as well as access to the relevant benefits and services currently offered by FEI, and those being specifically developed for FEI Japan, including reduced registration fees for local and international conferences.
