Financial Executives International (FEI), the leading organization for CFOs and other senior financial executives, today presented James V. Long, CPA, of FEI''s Austin, TX, Chapter, with the association's 2003 Distinguished Service Award. The award honors volunteer leaders who have made long-term contributions to FEI's development at the local or national level.

Mr. Long accepted his award from FEI chairman, Ridge A. Braunschweig, at FEI's "Financial Executives Summit" in Orlando, Fla.
FEI's Distinguished Service Award nominees are evaluated across four areas:
* Holding a series of FEI positions and exciting a positive influence
* Representing FEIs goals to the financial community in an exemplary way
* Launching major initiatives that strengthen national and/or chapter
activities
* Demonstrating the qualities of a role model and being held in high
esteem by their peers
Mr. Long, an Austin resident, received the award for his long-term contributions to FEI and for giving generously of his time and experience within the financial and local business community where he lives.
In the past, Mr. Long has been recognized by the Texas State Board of Accountancy; Texas Society of CPA's; American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) Editorial Board; and The University of Texas at Austin, in addition to being nominated for INC Magazine's Entrepreneur Award and KPMG's Technology Awards.
Mr. Long is a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin and Northern Illinois University. He joined KPMG after teaching at The University of Texas, where his career included finance positions with what is now JP Morgan Chase Bank. Mr. Long founded and served as CEO of Services Resource Group, a turnaround management and merger & acquisition company, also based in Austin.
