Sara DeSmith is PwC’s ESG Assurance Leader and a partner in the Digital, Assurance and Transparency practice. She helps clients reliably and transparently communicate sustainability and other environmental, social and governance (ESG) metrics to meet the new reality of stakeholder expectations. She has deep expertise advising companies on emerging trends and new standards in corporate reporting, including SASB, TCFD, and GRI.
She is the engagement leader on sustainability reporting engagements, covering a wide range of sustainability topics and metrics, with an emphasis on helping clients develop processes and controls to produce investment grade sustainability/ESG disclosures.
With a background advising on the adoption of new corporate reporting standards, she has completed two tours in PwC’s National Quality Organization and has 30+ years of experience assisting a wide range of companies solve complex corporate reporting issues. Since 2012, she has served as a Board Member on the New Jersey State Board of Accountancy and served as President from 2017-2018. She is also a member of PwC’s Global Accounting Consulting Services network and has 17+ years of experience advising companies on the adoption of IFRS and US GAAP standards.
She is a Certified Public Accountant, licensed in New York and New Jersey, and is a graduate of St. Bonaventure University with a BBA in Accounting.
