Caleb Pilling

Caleb Pilling joined Geffen Mesher in 2007 as one of the firm’s first interns, working in both the assurance and tax departments during his first three years with the firm. Although working in both departments provided valuable experience for serving his clients, Caleb knew where his passions were and transitioned into providing fulltime assurance services to clients in the manufacturing, distribution, construction, and real estate industries.

Four years later in the depths of the great recession, Caleb was called upon to provide forensic accounting services to a client falling victim to occupational fraud. That experience motivated him to acquire the prestigious Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) designation — which denotes proven expertise in fraud prevention, detection, and deterrence — and help develop the firm’s forensic accounting service group, which now includes five professionals.

Caleb shifted his focus again in 2016 when he helped establish the firm’s mergers and acquisitions advisory services group, where he now spends half his time. He serves as co-chair of this group and has advised clients through deals totaling $130 million.

As a native Oregonian, Caleb is highly involved in serving his local community through volunteer work for Accounting Aid for Fraud Victims (AAFFV), an Oregonbased nonprofit providing forensic accounting services to elder victims of fraud abuse. He also serves as Treasurer for the Oregon Entrepreneurs Network (OEN), helping further the state’s economic development and business environment. When not in the office or volunteering, Caleb may be found outdoors with his family enjoying the Oregon coast and Cascades, or rooting for the Oregon Ducks and Timbers.
