Joe Gagliano is the Senior Vice President of Global Tax and leads 135 employees based in 17 countries around the globe. In this position, he has global responsibility for all aspects of the Company’s tax and tax-related matters, including strategy & planning, tax policy, project execution, tax accounting & compliance, and tax audits & dispute resolution.
A 30 year veteran at American Express Company, Mr. Gagliano began his career in a tax compliance role within American Express Bank Ltd. Throughout his tenure, he has held varied roles within the Global Tax organization, which has provided him great visibility across the organization. Prior to being named as head of Tax, Mr. Gagliano led the regional tax teams in EMEA, JAPA and LACC, as well as the Global Transfer Pricing team.
He earned his MBA from the Thunderbird School of Global Management, a J.D. from Rutgers School of Law, and an LL.M. in Taxation from New York Law School. He is a member of FEI’s Committee on Taxation.
