Mary-Lee Stillwell

Mary-Lee Stillwell recently joined Verizon to assume the role of Vice President of Accounting & External Reporting where she leads and oversees external financial reporting, technical accounting, accounting for mergers and acquisitions as well as Verizon’s program for internal controls over financial reporting.

Prior to joining Verizon, Ms. Stillwell spent 16 years in the energy industry where she held various accounting positions.  Most recently she served as Chief Accounting Officer of Clearway Energy, Inc. She was responsible for standing up the accounting and tax organizations along with accounting systems and processes when NRG Energy, Inc. sold its majority ownership in Clearway Energy, Inc.  Prior to her role at Clearway Energy, Inc., she was Vice President and Assistant Controller for NRG Energy, Inc. where she led a large multi-national team and had oversight for external financial reporting, consolidations and all other corporate accounting functions, shared service accounting functions such as fixed asset accounting, accounts payable and payroll, and oversight for the accounting of NRG’s Renewables segment.  She led the accounting team through several mergers and acquisitions as well as integrations of these businesses and also led the accounting organization through several operational efficiency projects. She had a number of other roles within the accounting organization at GenOn Energy, Inc. and Reliant Energy, Inc. in Houston, Texas, prior to these companies being acquired by NRG Energy, Inc. Ms. Stillwell was an Audit Manager at PricewaterhouseCoopers in Houston, Texas prior to her transition into the energy industry. 

She earned her BBA in Accounting from the University of Houston and is a Certified Public Accountant in Texas. She resides with her husband of 22 years, their 9 year old son and the family’s English Mastiff in Bucks County, Pennsylvania.  When not spending time with her family, she enjoys time outdoors, hiking and skiing, as well as spending quality time with friends.
