Thomas Fuhrman


Thomas Fuhrman is Managing Director of Cybersecurity Consulting and Advisory Services at Marsh Risk Consulting (MRC), delivering cybersecurity consulting services in the United States and working across Marsh & McLennan’s operating companies on a broad range of cyber initiatives. He is an experienced cybersecurity consultant with more than 20 years in the business and has served in consulting leadership roles as a senior vice president and partner at Booz Allen Hamilton, president of Delta Risk, and founder and president of 3tau LLC. His consulting experience spans many industry sectors including financial, manufacturing, education, automotive, energy and water utilities, retail, ecommerce, and others. Tom leads a team of professionals that has helped many clients understand their cyber exposure and improve their cybersecurity programs to reduce business risks. A recognized thought leader in cybersecurity, he has presented leading ideas in cybersecurity to many audiences through diverse channels. Earlier in his career, he served on the staff of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) where he focused on the then-emerging issue of Critical Infrastructure Protection. He authored the OSTP publication CYBERNATION: The American Infrastructure in the Information Age, a landmark report on cybersecurity and Critical Infrastructure Protection. 

Prior to his work in Cybersecurity, Tom served in the US Air Force, graduated from the Air Force Test Pilot School, and flew the SR-71 Blackbird, the world’s fastest and highest-flying airplane. He was also propulsion program manager in the National Aero-Space Plane (NASP) hypersonic vehicle program office, among other accomplishments.

His educational background includes an MS in mechanical engineering (aeronautical) from California State University, and MS in electrical engineering from Purdue University, a BS in mathematics (computer science) and BS in electrical engineering, also from Purdue University.

Tom has held a National Defense Fellowship, Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, from Tufts University, is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), and is a Certified Blockchain Expert (CBE).
