Mr. Mark Smetana

Mark Smetana joined Eby in 1997, his functional responsibilities include finance, accounting, treasury, IT and corporate and estate planning. He has led the company in many strategic activities including M&A, ERP deployment, strategic planning at the company and estate level. Smetana has been an FEI Chicago chapter member since 1994. He has been a member of FEI’s Committee on Private Company Policy since inception in 2005. He chaired the committee from 2008-2011 during which time the Private Company Roundtable was initiated. He has participated in numerous meetings and conferences with legislators on private company matters and submitted comments on policy matters effecting privately held companies. He testified before the House Ways & Means Committee on tax reform for closely held business. He served on the FEI board 2009-2011, was a member of the FEI strategic planning committee and governance task force. In 201, he was honored by FEI for his achievement in policy. Prior to joining Eby, Smetana was Director of Finance and Corporate Secretary at Champion Parts, Inc. He started his career at Andersen where he left as a senior manager in the attest practice after 11 years. While at Andersen, he served public and privately held clients in a number of industries and co-developed the firm’s office productivity practice methodology and worked in firm-wide quality initiatives including its application for the Malcolm Baldrige Award. Smetana received a BBA from the University of Notre Dame. He is a CPA.
