Maura McGuigan is a director of criteria in the Credit Rating Criteria Research & Analytics department of AM Best. Her team is responsible for the development, testing and review of Best’s Credit Rating Methodology and the related criteria procedures within the rating analytics, as well as for the development of new criteria.
Prior to joining AM Best in 2016, Ms. McGuigan spent more than 25 years in a variety of roles at various credit rating agencies, including most recently as a senior director managing FitchRating’s Public Finance Housing Group. She was also a vice president/senior credit officer covering the Public Finance Housing sector at Moody’s Investors Service for 13 years. In these roles, she was responsible for rating activity and research on mortgage-backed securities, as well as the development of housing-related rating criteria. She also served as rating committee chair for various sectors within the public finance industry.
She has a bachelor’s degree in international relations from the University of Delaware.
