Daniel Lim

Daniel Lim is the ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) at Alphabet (Google). In his role, he is responsible for implementing finance rigor to enable consistent, comparable, and reliable ESG information and disclosure across the organization. With a focus on proactive and scalable external engagement and reporting that is responsive to the evolving voluntary and regulatory reporting landscape, Daniel leads a new team that works in collaboration with the Sustainability group to establish processes, policies, and operational procedures, as well as cross-functional operating models and governance structures.

 

As a thought leader in ESG reporting, Daniel serves as an expert for Google and represents the organization externally as a speaker and lead contributor to various industry and peer groups. He also led Google's response to the SEC's climate proposal.

 

Prior to his role as ESG Controller, Daniel held various leadership roles within Google’s Controllership organization, including serving as Chief of Staff to the Corporate Controller & Chief Accounting Officer of Google. He is a former Big 4 audit partner with extensive experience in GAAP accounting, SEC filings, and PCAOB auditing standards; completing a rotation at the firm's national office and was a contributing author to various firm publications. With a background in multinational public technology companies, Daniel is well-equipped to thrive in the global economy.

 

Daniel received his Bachelor's Degree in Business Management Economics from the University of California, Santa Cruz and holds a California CPA. His professional experience combined with his cultural immersion from growing up in six countries has given him the tools to excel in his role, where he aspires to contribute to Google’s mission of improving the lives of as many people as possible through technology.
