Karen Horan

Karen Horan has over 30 years of experience coaching business leaders and accelerating organizational change.  She has worked and lived internationally and applies insights from neuroscience, best practice research and her clients to help them build self-awareness, create personal and professional goals and take actions to achieve them.    

During a successful corporate career, that included an assignment as the Chief Human Resources Officer at Bechtel Marine Propulsion Corporation and a variety of senior leadership roles at Ford Motor Company, Karen was recognized for her organizational development /change management expertise and her leadership of initiatives that focused on development of great leaders at all levels and high performing teams.  She delivered solutions to Executive teams in the United States, Australia/New Zealand and Canada in a variety of functional areas and business units.  Karen’s leadership in outsourcing International Relocation and Compensation services, globally, was recognized by Ford Motor Company’s Organizational Development Institute as an exemplar change management project.   
 
Karen received her Coaching training from the Coaches Training Institute (CTI), which is recognized by the International Coaching Federation (ICF).  As an executive coach, Karen is able to quickly assess organizational context and build relationships that help leaders receive the support they need to achieve their personal and professional goals.  She is known for her sound intuition and wisdom in one-on-one coaching.  Respecting the many demands on her clients, she works to accelerate impact and minimize time required for sustainable change. 
 
After Karen received her Coaching training, she has coached leaders in a variety of leadership levels and industries, including Financial Services, Automotive and Civil Engineering.  She is particularly effective in helping leaders gain new insights about themselves and creating plans to create sustainable change.  Karen specializes in helping to prepare leaders to more effectively progress to a higher level in their current organization or transition into a new organization.  Through her coaching, she helps leaders understand the importance of being true to oneself and leveraging their unique skills and values throughout their careers.  And, she helps leaders create strategies to balance the demands of work, family and community while making time to care for themselves.
 
Karen and her husband live in Novi, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit.  She serves on the Board of Directors for Mary’s Mantle, a non-profit residential program for pregnant women and their babies during the first year of the child’s life.  In her spare time, she enjoys lively discussions about the “book of the month” with a group of women from diverse and eclectic backgrounds.  She and her husband also enjoy cooking and entertaining.  Jim’s a better cook and Karen is better at pairing wines – demonstrating her philosophy that each individual on the team should play the position which magnify his or her strengths.
 
Karen holds an M.S.A. in Business Administration from Central Michigan University.  She also holds a B.A. in Psychology from Immaculata College and a Certificate in Organizational Development from Ford Motor Company’s Organizational Development Institute.
