Robert Royall

Robert L. Royall II leads the Derivatives and Financial Instruments team for Ernst & Young LLP’s Financial Accounting Advisory Services (FAAS) practice. In this role, Royall and his team assist clients in understanding the requirements needed to qualify for hedge accounting, determining the pros and cons of various alternative hedging structures, and in communicating the complexities of such structures to audit committees and boards. Royall focuses on both US GAAP and IFRS, monitoring developments in the accounting for financial instruments and foreign currency. Royall's clients have included every major audit client of the firm over the past fifteen years, touching every industry sector and every type of derivative. He has 29 years of experience, including 14 as the primary derivatives accounting resource with Ernst & Young LLP's Professional Practice Group, and over a decade serving on the FASB’s outside advisory body, the Derivatives Resource Group (formerly, “DIG”). Royall earned his MBA at Jones Graduate School of Business, Rice University. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst and a member of both the AICPA and the CFA Institute.
