Originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, Lieutenant Colonel Baker was commissioned a Second Lieutenant through the Reserve Officer Training Corps in August 1997.

His previous military assignments include serving as a Gold Bar Recruiter at the Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne, Florida; Human Resource Officer and Adjutant, 282nd Base Support Battalion and Executive Officer of Headquarters and Headquarters Company, Combat Maneuver Training Center in Hohenfels, Germany; Commander, Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 2nd Battalion, 60th Infantry Regiment and Commander, Bravo Company, Task Force Victory in Fort Jackson, South Carolina; Test Control Officer and Operations Officer, Lansing Military Entrance Processing Station in Lansing, Michigan; Human Resource Officer and Adjutant, 5th Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division in Fort Bliss, Texas; HR Plans and Operations Officer, J-1, United States Forces – Iraq in Camp Victory, Baghdad, Iraq; Commander, Kansas City Military Entrance Processing Station in Kansas City, Missouri; Chief of Plans and Operations for the 3rd Human Resource Sustainment Center in Jackson, Mississippi; and Professor of Military Science and Leadership, Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, Michigan.

Since retiring from the Army in 2017, Chuck has worked in HR at Amcor Rigid Plastics as the Manager of Learning and Development & now in his current role as Sr. Manager, Talent & Development.

His professional military education includes the U.S. Army Airborne School; the Adjutant General Officer Basic Course; the Adjutant General Captain's Career Course; the Combined Arms Services Staff School; the Human Resource Manager's Qualification Course; the Human Resource Plans and Operation’s Course; and Intermediate Level Education at the Command and General Staff College.

He holds a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Aviation Management with Flight from the Florida Institute of Technology, Melbourne, Florida, a Master's of Science degree in Administration from Central Michigan University, Mount Pleasant, Michigan, and a Senior Professional in Human Resources Certificate from the Human Resources Certification Institute in Alexandria, Virginia.

His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, four Meritorious Service Medals, the Joint Service Commendation Medal, three Army Commendation Medals, two Army Achievement Medals, and various other service and unit awards.               

Chuck is married to the former Erin Baird of DeWitt, Michigan and resides in Northville, Michigan. They have three children, Madilynn, Katelynn, and Ellynn.
