Sam Eldessouky is Senior Vice President, Controller and Chief Accounting Officer of Valeant Pharmaceuticals International, Inc. In his role, Sam is responsible for overseeing the global controllership functions including financial reporting, regional finance and global policies.
Sam’s key responsibilities include overseeing controllership functions and reporting financial results to the executive management team, Audit Committee and Board of Directors. Additionally, he oversees the various finance functions for Valeant including, accounts payable, payroll, time and expense, financial planning and analysis and financial reporting and consolidation. He also manages external reporting, technical accounting, operational controllership, valuation and M&A, treasury accounting, global consolidation, accounting policy and training programs across Valeant’s global operations.
Sam joined Valeant in June 2016 from Tyco International plc, where he worked since 2004. Most recently, Sam was the Senior Vice President, Controller and Chief Accounting Officer responsible for overseeing the controllership functions including financial reporting and global policies. He was also responsible for the finance shared services organization.
Prior to Tyco, Sam spent ten years with PricewaterhouseCoopers where he held several roles of increasing responsibility lastly serving in PwC’s National office where he provided technical guidance on complex accounting matters. He also worked as an associate at Booz Allen & Hamilton.
Sam served as an advisor to the International Accounting Standards Boards (IASB) from 2007-2013 and currently serves as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Financial Executives Research Foundation (FERF). Sam is a frequent speaker at financial reporting and accounting events, and shared services conferences. He served as Chairman of the 2013 Corporate Financial Reporting Issues Conference in New York.
Sam holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and a Masters Degree in Accounting and Finance from the University of Liverpool, England. He is a Certified Public Account and a Charted Global Management Accountant.
