Mr. Thomas S. Timko, CPA

Thomas Timko, Vice President Chief Accounting Officer and Controller of General Motors, since March of 2013. In this role, he is globally responsible for the external reporting of results, technical accounting matters and internal controls. Timko hosts “GM Behind the Charts” for investors on how results are reported and to address frequently asked questions and is also co-leading an integrated global finance systems project. He is a direct report to the CEO on the Strategic Risk Management Program.

Timko was most recently Vice President Chief Accounting Officer and Controller at Applied Materials, since March 2010. He led the financial due diligence and integration for a multibillion-dollar acquisition, developed the annual operating plans and established analyst guidance. Timko was also responsible for technical accounting policies, internal controls, shared services and external reporting.

He previously was CAO and controller at Delphi Automotive, where he redefined and implemented a controllership structure, improved the accuracy and timeliness of reporting and established world-class control processes. He previously was assistant controller for Interpublic Group, where he was a key member of the turnaround team that completed a financial restatement. Timko was the assistant controller at Dover Corporation, which he joined after 11 years at PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Timko was recognized as Treasury & Risk magazine’s "2010 100 Most Influential People in Finance" and Crain’s Detroit Business publication’s “40 Under 40, Class of 2007” as one of the top professionals achieving success. He is a CPA and graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
