Karen Walker is the Chief Accountant and Controller at Uber Technologies. Since joining Uber in December 2013, she has been responsible for building a global team from the ground up to support worldwide expansion and the launch on new lines of business. Uber is now in 505 cities and 76 countries.
Prior to joining Uber, Walker served as the Vice President, Controller of Virgin America helping the start-up airline to develop mature financial reporting processes to ready the company for the public markets. She also served as the Vice President Controller of a publicly traded new media company, CNET Networks.
In addition to the controllership function she has held a variety of finance leadership positions over the course of her career in Silicon Valley including financial planning and analysis, revenue operations, program management, and business process design.
Walker began her career in client services with PriceWaterhouseCoopers and Ernst & Young. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Southern Methodist University.
She has recently had the opportunity to support the community of Oracle customers and partners by speaking at the Finance Emerging Women in Leadership forums. Walker is an active in her community supporting the ALS Association’s Golden West Chapter. She lives in San Francisco with her husband and is a novice crossfitter and wine collector.
