Steven Howarth

Steve Howarth serves as Vice President Global Finance Operations where he is responsible for the efficient and effective delivery of finance services and processes throughout the Medtronic Enterprise. In his role, Mr. Howarth also leads the Finance Optimization Program within Medtronic’s Enterprise Excellence initiative.   Mr. Howarth joined Medtronic in 2010 as Vice President of Corporate Audit and Compliance Assurance. Mr. Howarth has 38 years of professional business experience in multiple industries. Prior to Medtronic, he spent 14 years with Stanley Black & Decker as Vice President Corporate Controller, Vice President Business Development for Finance, Vice President Internal Audit, and Business Unit finance leadership. Earlier in his career, he spent more than 10 years with the public accounting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers. Mr. Howarth has a significant background in business development finance matters, including pre-acquisition due diligence and post- acquisition financial assimilation.

 

Mr. Howarth has been a frequent speaker on matters of Finance enterprise excellence, corporate governance and other business finance subjects. He is a frequent speaker at Life Science Industry governance and audit forums and has served as chair of the Manufacturer’s Alliance Council.     Mr. Howarth is a Certified Public Accountant and holds an MBA from the Smith School, University of Maryland and an undergraduate degree from Rowan University. He is a past director of the Alumni associations and Finance advisory boards for both institutions.

 

 

Mr. Howarth serves on the Minneapolis Executive Leadership Board of Directors for the American Heart Association (and past Chair of the AHA Twin Cities Heart Walk Campaign) and the Minneapolis-St. Paul Institute of Internal Auditors. Mr Howarth is an elected City Council Member and Treasurer for the City of Minnetonka Beach, Minnesota, where he resides.
