As part of the administrative applications, compliance and business intelligence teams, John Van Deck is responsible for the research areas that are everything CFO-related. He is the North American lead for these areas and focuses on how to bring a technology solution into an enterprise, including the software, services and change management that will be required to achieve business value.
Van Decker has spent many years on the fence between the IT and Finance organizations, alternating back and forth several times over my 23 year career. He was a user, developer and implementer of financial management and operational applications. Van Decker have also worked for a software firm as VP of Strategy and spent over five years as an industry analyst in my focus areas. He has had positions that bought, sold and researched financial management technologies. This brings a unique perspective to his role at Gartner as Industry Analyst.
