Sarah Rayfield

Sarah Rayfield is a Manager in Ernst & Young’s Financial Accounting Advisory Services (FAAS) Practice, focusing primarily on assisting clients in accounting for financial instruments. She joined Ernst & Young in 2013 in the New York office and is now based in the Chicago office. In her current role, she has provided services related to an SEC reporting project for a company emerging from bankruptcy, an evaluation of a company’s risk assessment program for financial exposures arising from commodity, interest rate, and currency risks and debt and equity transactions for more than 100 clients.
 
Prior to her current role, Rayfield worked as a postgraduate technical assistant at the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB), where she gained experience with U.S. GAAP, IFRS, and the standard-setting process. While at the FASB, she worked on the Accounting for Financial Instruments convergence project and the Technical Corrections and Improvements FASB-only project. She contributed to the drafting of Exposure Drafts for these projects, researched and prepared memos for presentation to the Board, helped to conduct stakeholder outreach, and participated in the preparation of a comment letter summary. Her professional history also includes three internships in federal audit and regulation.
 
Rayfield holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Bradley University and a Master of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Virginia. She is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in the states of New York and Illinois. Rayfield is member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Illinois CPA Society.
