Victoria's Secret Sold for $525M, CEO to Step Down

Private equity firm Sycamore Partners will acquire a 55% share in Victoria’s Secret from its owner L Brands for $525 million, the companies announced Thursday. L Brand founder Les Wexner, the longest-serving CEO of an S&P 500 company, will step down as its chairman and CEO and will remain on the board as chairman emeritus.

Volkswagen CFO Frank Witter became finance chief just weeks after Wolfsburg, Germany-based Volkswagen was charged by U.S. authorities with defrauding customers and the government by rigging diesel-powered vehicles to cheat emissions tests. He has stewarded Volkswagen’s finances at a time when the company, the world’s largest automaker by sales, accrued more than $30 billion in fines, penalties and compensation to consumers after admitting to rigging nearly 11 million vehicles world-wide with illegal emissions software.

MGM Resorts Suffers Massive Data Breach

Casino and hotel giant MGM Resorts International has acknowledged that it was the victim of a data breach last year, the latest company to have the personal information of its customers exposed. MGM did not disclose the number of customers affected, but Under the Breach, a firm that monitors cybercrimes and provides intelligence about potential data breaches to companies, said 10.6 million people were affected. Hotel chains and travel companies have been a major target for Chinese espionage, in particular, because of the vast troves of data they store on American executives and government officials with security clearances.
