In a recent poll of the top 75 Fortune 500 companies, SurveyMonkey asked roughly 20,000 American adults to list the companies they are most excited to work for. Half of the top 10 companies were in the technology sector. Number one was Google, followed by Microsoft, Boeing, Apple, and Walt Disney.

Trump Releases List of $200B in Additional Tariffs

The Trump administration pushed ahead with plans to impose tariffs on an additional $200 billion in Chinese goods by releasing a list of targeted products, escalating a trade war that may soon directly hit American consumers. The proposed list of goods includes consumer items such as clothing, television components and refrigerators as well as other technology products, though it omitted some high-profile items like mobile phones.

FASB Clarifies How to Account for Contributions

Companies have some new guidance to follow to sort out how to account for contributions they receive and make that are not clearly governed by revenue recognition rules. FASB's Accounting Standards Update No. 2018-08 is meant to clarify how to account for contributions of cash or assets that are typically made by not-for-profit organizations and business enterprises. For contributions, an entity should follow the guidance in Subtopic 958-605, whereas for exchange transactions, an entity should follow other guidance (for example, Topic 606, Revenue from Contracts with Customers).
