Will GDPR Hurt Businesses?

NPR

Today a sweeping new directive goes into effect called the General Data Protection Regulation, or GDPR. One side argues that GDPR will be terrible for competition, giving big businesses a leg up over small ones. Small companies won't be able to afford the expenses that come with managing and protecting data. Another camp argues that the laws will make a difference by making businesses think more deeply about what data they collect and why, and GDPR may improve the quality of the Internet.

CEO Activism: Scapegoating Is Inevitable

Quartz

More than 60% of consumers want CEOs to take a lead on social change, rather than wait for governments to impose it, according to a survey published last week. This makes it impossible to manage expectations—and it invites scapegoating.

Employers are also offering more full-time opportunities, healthcare, and PTO benefits.
