It has been over a decade since the concept of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) has been introduced; however, it has not been until the 2008 financial crisis that ERM gained significant prominence as an integral component of the organization’s overall business strategy. Despite the increased focus on ERM today, many companies across all industries struggle to precisely define it, implement it, and deploy it effectively. An important driver for ERM implementation is pressure from external and internal regulators. External pressures are only magnified by continually updated standards, such as ISO 2015 and COSO ERM 2017.  Let’s explore two different ERM programs that focus on making quality risk-based decisions and supporting other enterprise-wide management activities so leadership can stay informed and manage their risks better while maximizing opportunities.
