Join the FEI Chicago Chapter for its premier Professional Development Day at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.  We are thrilled to announce that this year’s program will be held in the new flagship Global Hub building on the Evanston Campus. The Global Hub was built to inspire business leaders by supporting new forms of learning and community building.

We have secured two of our favorite speakers for this event… Professor Rob Wolcott and Professor Harry Kraemer.  Both Rob and Harry have previously spoken to our group, but both will have new topics for this event.

This event includes a 3-hour session with Professor Wolcott, a 3-hour session with Professor Kraemer, continental breakfast, breaks, lunch and post event cocktails.  Participants can earn 6 CPE credits.

Morning Sessions with Professor Rob Wolcott
Rob Wolcott is Clinical Professor of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University. Wolcott won Teacher of the Year from Kellogg’s EMBA program in 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2017.  Wolcott is also a managing partner with Clareo, a foresight and growth strategy consultancy serving global corporations.

Foresight, Vision and Innovation Strategy
Professor Wolcott will explore how Vision should be a corporate capability, not just the purview of rare, ‘visionary’ leaders.  He’ll put this in context of the challenge of leading firms for near-term performance and long-term prosperity.

Leading with Purpose:  What, Why and How
In this session, Professor Wolcott will explore evidence that companies that lead with purpose achieve better results.  Individuals who do so report higher personal satisfaction and meaning. Beyond platitudes, how can we incorporate this into the actual operations of an organization?  How might it impact decision making?

Afternoon Sessions with Professor Harry Kraemer
Harry M. Jansen Kraemer, Jr. is an executive partner with Madison Dearborn Partners, a private equity firm based in Chicago, Illinois and a Clinical Professor of Management and Strategy at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management. He was named the 2008 Kellogg School Professor of the Year. Read more about Harry.

Why M&A Often Doesn’t Work and What to Do About It
Studies have consistently shown that 80% of acquisitions never earn their cost of capital, that is, shareholders would have been better off if the company did not make the acquisition. Kraemer will discuss why so many fail, and what you can do to increase the odds of being successful.

Leading Change Management
One of the most critical roles of senior management is leading change.    Why is this often so difficult? Where do you stand on the change continuum? How can you reduce uncertainty in order to improve change management?
