FEI Chicago Member Spotlight - Valerie Nielsen

This newsletter feature highlights FEI Members and Sponsors doing great things. This month we feature Valerie Nielsen, Managing Director at Longview Leader Corporation.

Valerie is passionate about sustainable innovation, pragmatic risk management and accelerating growth from startups to global MNCs. She also is a longtime supporter of mentorship enabling diversity to flourish and individuals a more fulfilling journey on their path in the business world. She serves as a mentor at the University of Chicago's Polsky Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation. As a mentor, she shares insights with emerging entrepreneurs by providing security, risk and compliance advice to startups and technology innovation companies. Valerie recently joined the Women’s Mentorship Co-Op within Chicago Innovation as a mentor. The mission for the Women’s Mentorship Co-Op is to empower, connect, and propel female innovators in Chicago.

In 2020, Valerie decided to take the entrepreneur path herself and co-founded Longview Leader Corporation. The firm offers consulting solutions across Risk Management, Operational Due Diligence, Fractional Leader Services and Organizational Transformation. The inspiration for the business came lessons learned growing up in a sub-division called Longview Farms in Wilmington, Delaware where she was encouraged to imagine the paths to travel for the leadership journey ahead.

Education is another endeavor valued by Valerie. She is an adjunct lecturer at Loyola University Chicago’s Executive and Professional Education Center within the Quinlan School of Business. Also, she is a member of Advisory Board for Center for Risk Management which is also part of the Business School. Valerie was a contributing architect in shaping the mission and vision of the Center. Valerie co-developed with several board members the first webinar series to relaunch the Center in December 2020. The webinar series has brought together leaders across industries to share their perspective on the purpose, execution and sustainability for Risk Management.

As part of the FEI Chicago Chapter, Valerie is a member of the Inclusion, Diversity & Equity Awareness Committee she has been part of the programming on equity and social justice.

Thank you, Valerie for using your energy to help others in meaningful ways!
