As a result, we are seeking an experienced Controller with relevant manufacturing industry experience to work alongside our management team, helping to maximizing operations.

Controller Position

Objectives:

• Work closely with the Company’s operating team and investment company to develop a full understanding of their respective financial and management operations.
• Serve as critical member of the management team, assisting in development and achievement of company’s strategic financial goals.
• Collaborate with the Company and investment teams on long term planning, budgeting, financial, and operational analysis as it relates to the initiatives identified during strategic planning efforts.
• Work closely with Company management to identify critical systems in need of improvement, and/or implement critical systems currently lacking for purposes of enhancing timely and accurate reporting.
• Have a full understanding and control over the cost accounting and inventory management to provide product and SKU level reporting.

Responsibilities:

This role will initially work closely with the senior leadership team of the Company in support of three initial primary initiatives:

• Project manage the implementation of necessary accounting and reporting systems necessary to support the growth of the Company, including system identification, evaluation, and selection of technology platforms where appropriate.
• Optimize financial reporting and analysis, including the development and reporting of key performance indicators that drive performance.
• Support the further implementation and efficiencies of the Company’s MRP system. Work in collaboration with the management team to ensure that the MRP system provides the accounting function with the necessary data and information to significantly improve financial reporting and controls.
• Manage and lead all functions and personnel in the accounting department including but not limited to Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, General Ledger and Cost Accounting, and Revenue Recognition.
 

Specific to these widely defined roles, this position will be expected to satisfy the responsibilities below in supporting the team and communicating the financial implications of various business decisions:
• Implement processes, procedures, and systems that maintain integrity and accuracy of company financial data.
• Perform general accounting and consolidation of the company financials.
• Further the use of analytical tools, analyses, and metrics to better assess overall business performance, variances from plan, and projections (i.e., flash reports, dashboard metrics, etc.).
• Prepare annual budget, and report variances on monthly basis.
• Assist in management of external accounting and lending relationships, including form and function of periodic updates.
• Assist in certain aspects of acquisition evaluation, modeling, and financial due diligence activities, where appropriate.

In addition, maintain responsibility for performance metrics related to the company:
• Focus on extraction and determination of accurate financial/operating metrics.
• Provide consistency of company reporting to facilitate monthly financial statement review.
• Create tools for cash flow management and financial/dashboard reporting to allow for accurate, timely submission of performance reports to Company management and investment company.
• Identify areas that require corrective measures up through planning, forecasting, and budgeting.
• Alongside the management team, aggressively develop and monitor benchmarks/metrics and search for additional improvements within company operations through use of KPIs.
• Supervise and/or review annual audits to ensure accurate reporting of financial status.
• Perform basic account reconciliations, general accounting, closing books, internal financial reporting, and aggregate report production for the company business segments.

Position Requirements:
• Varied industry knowledge.
• 8-12 years progressive accounting experience, with increasing level of responsibility and achievement required.
• Controller or equivalent experience preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or similar field of study required.
• CPA preferred, current knowledge of accrual accounting and GAAP required.
• Experience in cost accounting in a manufacturing environment.
• Significant experience in general ledger maintenance, balance sheet reconciliation preparation, and financial statement consolidation.
• Familiarity with preparing variance reports on forecast versus actual financial statements.
• Must be able to demonstrate audit, forensic accounting and financial analysis skills and have familiarity with multiple general ledger and financial reporting packages.
• Significant experience utilizing and managing data in an MRP system.
• PC literate (MS Office); Excel and report query savvy a necessity of the position.
• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the goals and objectives of private equity investors.
• Strong business acumen.
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills, including ability to articulate recommendations in a concise and timely manner.
