5 Gears: Find the Right Gear for Success with Cathy Tompkins

Are you trying to figure out what “work/life balance” really means and how to achieve it? Do you feel like your current rhythm of life and work is sustainable? (i.e. you are recharging well, prioritizing key relationships, and focused on work priorities.)

One of the biggest challenges for any individual, leader, team, or family is learning how to be both productive in what we do AND present in all of our relationships. We need to get our work done and do it well, but people are not machines. Making time for the significant relationships in our lives is important because they play a key role in satisfying our sense of fulfillment and value, in helping us recharge, and also in helping us strategically develop influence and rapport.

The 5 Gears is a simple tool that will help us achieve this balance effectively. Like a stick shift on a car, the 5 Gears helps us understand how to get into the right Gear at the right time and communicate that to those around us. When and how do we create the time and focus needed to do our work well? When and how do we focus on the relationships that recharge and rejuvenate us? Learning to schedule your Gears and intentionally shifting well between them allows you to bring your best to each relationship and role in your life.

Featured speaker, Cathy Tompkins, the co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of Foreword, a leadership development and strategy consulting firm located in Oklahoma City, will discuss the 5 Gears tool so listeners will gain an understanding what “work/life balance” really means and how to achieve it. Join us  to learn this balance effectively and teach it to your family and co-workers so you have a language to communicate your needs and expectations objectively!
