Blockchain - Applications and Potential (Afternoon PD Session)

This session will precede our evening networking hour and presentation - "Cryptocurrency - Buyer Beware!".  Please register for the evening portion of the event separately by clicking here.

Blockchain, cryptocurrency, bitcoin … what does it all mean? Some of the noise is hype, but some of it points to important forces with the potential to impact all industries. FEI Bay Area’s September Professional Development (“PD”) and Evening sessions are designed to help you make sense of noise.

The September PD session (starting at 4:30pm) will focus on blockchain – a distributed ledger of peer-to-peer transactions that allows for records storage. Blockchain forms the technical backbone for cryptocurrencies but has broader applications as a ledger of various records and contracts. The session will cover the following:
  • Blockchain Basics and How Things Work
  •  Security Considerations
  •  Public vs. Private Blockchains
  • Implications for Financial Services and Banking
  • Applications in Other Industries
  • What CFOs Need to Think About and Plan For
