Cryptocurrency - Buyer Beware!

This networking hour and presentation will follow our afternoon PD session - "Blockchain - Applications and Potential".  Please register for the afternoon portion of the event separately by clicking here.

Blockchain, cryptocurrency, bitcoin … what does it all mean? Some of the noise is hype, but some of it points to important forces with the potential to impact all industries. FEI Bay Area’s September Professional Development (“PD”) and Evening sessions are designed to help you make sense of noise.

While the PD session will focus on blockchain, the Evening session will continue the discussion – with a focus on cryptocurrency. Cryptocurrency is a medium of exchange, created and stored electronically in the blockchain, using encryption techniques to control the creation of monetary units and to verify the transfer of funds. Bitcoin is the best-known example. The evening session’s discussion will cover:
  • Cryptocurrency Applications
  • Types of Cryptocurrencies
  • Cryptocurrency Markets and Returns
  • A Deep Dive Into Bitcoin
  • Initial Coin Offerings (“ICOs”) – Markets, Dynamics, and Risks
  •  Regulation
