SFBA Chapter May 18th Event - The Science of StoryPathing for Leadership Development

"The Story that Drives You"
Presented by Darcy Illg, Vice President, Wells Fargo

Keynote Speaker Preceded by Afternoon PD Session (See Details Below)

In April 1996, Darcy Illg found herself trespassing on private property, avoiding the police officer standing a few feet away, and jumping on to the rusty metal coupling between two cars of an idling train that was about to move. Up until that moment, she had spent her life playing it safe and following the rules. In less than 60 seconds, everything changed.  What happened that day changed her and formed the basis for her management style. It is the story that drives her as a leader.

Join Darcy for a storytelling session where you will identify a story that drives you. We’ll walk through several small activities that will allow you to find, build and practice your story in a safe environment.

First, she’ll help you identify your message. Do you want share your values with your team? Do you want to connect with other FEI members in a meaningful way? Do you want to set the stage and share your credentials before a big presentation? Do you want to set expectations at home or at work?

Next, she'll help you identify a moment in time where a shift occurred, a moment that will allow your listeners to connect with you in a deep and meaningful way and to understand your message.

Finally, you’ll learn a quick way to structure your story, so that it will grab your listener’s attention and hold it until the end.

Join us on May 18th to hear how her story ends and to find the story that drives you.
