There's Gold in Them Thar Weed - The Business of Cannabis

According to the The State of Legal Marijuana Markets, the legal cannabis industry is expected to increase at a significant pace over the next several years, with consumer spending on legal cannabis products projected to grow from $6.9 billion in 2016 to over $21 billion in 2021. In 2016, more states passed laws to open new markets and expand existing ones than in any previous year – including California.

This session will discuss the state of the cannabis industry, particularly focused on the state of California where state and local officials are developing regulations for the sale of medicinal and recreational cannabis as of January 1, 2018.  The speakers will discuss issues being faced by businesses that will be growing, distributing and selling cannabis to the public concerning banking, compliance, financing, Federal issues  and taxation.  Participants will gain an understanding of this growing business segment and the risks and rewards for the participants.
