Presentation Details

Drawing on a natural desire on the part of all of us to do good and make the world a better place, there has been an increasing focus on alternatives to the traditional shareholder-focused decision making at companies – including initiatives related to stakeholder wealth maximization, sustainability, and ESG.

In Professor Damodaran’s presentation, he takes on all three of the aforementioned initiatives and provides a contrarian perspective – including why, even though certain initiatives may be well-intentioned, may actually leave businesses, stakeholders, and societies worse off. In his discussion, he also argues that there is currently little evidence that being “good” makes a company more valuable or able to deliver higher returns – and provides detailed examples and case studies. Finally, despite Professor Damodaran’s skepticism related to the “theocratic trifecta”, he will share his personal perspective on the trifecta and specific principles that he recommends.

Join us for what is sure to be an engaging, thought-provoking, and lively discussion!
