In September 2018, Pacific Studio acquired Dixon Studios, Inc. in Tucson, Arizona to extend its reach into the zoo, aquarium, and nature and visitor center space. Today, Dixon Studios operates as a separate, wholly-owned LLC. The combined employment for both entities totals 150.

POSITION SUMMARY: The Controller is accountable for all financial, human resources, IT systems and purchasing functions for Pacific Studio. This executive will have day-to-day, hands-on responsibility for financial reporting, forecasting, financial planning and project analysis, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, taxes, plus human resources, risk management, insurance and retirement, audit, and cash management. The accounting work at Dixon Studios is coordinated and directed by the Controller at Pacific Studio, who is responsible for consolidating all financial information between the two companies.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Executive
• Participate in corporate policy development as a member of the management
team
• Keep management fully informed on the financial health of the company and the
factors influencing it; make recommendations based on this information
• Maintain business insurance policies; work with the CEO and insurance broker to
determine best coverage options and limits
• Mentor, supervise, and regularly evaluate direct reports
• Identify and initiate process improvements for financial processes and systems
• Ensure compliance with internal control procedures; introduce additional controls
as needed
Financial Planning & Analysis
• Develop tools and systems to provide critical financial and operational information
to the management team
• Assist management with annual budgeting process
• Complete insightful ad-hoc analysis and reports to support the organization
• Ensure legal and regulatory compliance regarding all financial functions
Financial Reporting
• Direct all aspects of accounting operations
• Complete the month end close and the preparation and review of internal
financial reports, ensuring they are completed in a timely and accurate manner
• Provide audit documentation to support independent auditors’ annual review and
preparation of year-end financial statements
Banking
• Manage cash daily and maintain cash flow requirements
• Perform monthly bank reconciliations
• Manage line of credit renewal and prepare bank compliance reports
• Ensure ongoing banking relationships are in the best interest of Pacific Studio
Taxes
• Research taxability of interstate sales and pursue letter rulings when necessary or
advantageous
• File and maintain all required federal, state, and local business licenses
• Provide documentation to support independent auditors’ preparation of the
company’s federal and state income tax returns; review federal and state income tax returns for accuracy
Payroll & Benefits
• Supervise payroll and payroll taxes
• Advise on pay and other remuneration issues
• Manage the relationship with the HR consulting firm to assure our HR needs are
met
Systems and Support
• Manage ERP administrator who supports all the technological areas within the
company, including but not limited to Epicor

CANDIDATE PROFILE:
Education: A four-year undergraduate degree in accounting
Experience: Minimum six to eight years of experience in accounting management and staff development is required. Working knowledge of accounting software is a must. Solid experience and knowledge of US GAAP in the preparation of financial reports, and the analyses of financial metrics is required. The candidate will ideally have prior direct financial management experience with project accounting in a custom job shop environment. Previous experience in an art, production, manufacturing type environment would be ideal, but is not required. Functional knowledge of manufacturing-oriented ERP
systems; prior experience with Epicor software would be ideal.
 
Personal Characteristics
The individual being sought must have a demonstrated ability to think strategically and work collaboratively with the CEO and the other functional managers. He/she must be able to work with and develop an accounting staff. This individual also needs to be able to maintain a big-picture perspective by providing meaningful dashboard reporting as well as contributing strategic advice and counsel as a critical member of the Pacific Studio Management Team. Highly self-motivated and self-directed, the successful candidate's communication style should be open, clear and direct. A strong work ethic along with high standards of performance is a must. An innovative thinker who is proactive, creative and
practical in identifying and resolving ERP systems and accounting process issues is essential. The chosen person must be aligned with ownership’s values and passion for integrity and excellence.
