Controller - SanMar

Position Summary:
This position is responsible for leading the accounting operations, including the production of regularly scheduled and ad-hoc financial reports, maintaining accounting records, and developing a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk and ensure the accuracy of the company's reported financial results.
 
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manage the accounting department including overseeing the proper recording of all financial transactions, cash, ensuring appropriate levels of internal control and developing policies and procedures
  • Issue timely and complete monthly financial statements including budget-to-actual variances, comparison of results to prior periods, summary of key performance indicators
  • Coordinate the preparation of annual financial statements, audit schedules and supporting documentation for external auditor review
  • Manage the accounting system; and integration of accounting processes and reporting
  • Oversee monthly general ledger management, e.g., review of bank reconciliation, sub-ledger reconciliation, inventory reconciliation and other monthly closing procedures
  • Provide leadership to accounting team through recruiting, mentoring and development activities including annual performance planning, coaching and performance reviews
  • Act as liaison between outside auditors, consultants and internal management that includes delegating schedules, researching accounting issues and preparing audit and tax schedules for quarterly reviews and annual audit
  • Review the general ledger account analyses and monitor accounting activities for international entities and ensuring that foreign subsidiaries follow appropriate disciplines in month-end accounting processes
  • Ensure reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or international financial reporting standards
  • Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
 
 
Requirements for Position:
  • Experience with leading financial consolidation
  • Strong current technical knowledge of accounting principles and experience with internal control requirements
  • Superior interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Unquestioned personal integrity and work ethic
  • Experience in ERP systems management or implementation, preferably MS Dynamics 365 
  • Multinational accounting and consolidation experience a plus
 
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or MBA (Master’s in accounting, CPA, CMA preferred)
  • Minimum of 10 years of related accounting experience and a minimum of five to eight years of successful management experience in an accounting function including systems and internal control review

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.  The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.  The employee is regularly required to stand and walk.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
