Gary Mitchell is a Vice President in the Audit, Accounting and Advisory Services Department.
Gary graduated from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a major in accounting. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a major in finance from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.
Gary has experience in auditing and accounting services related to a variety of industries, including governmental entities, employee benefits plans, government contractors, construction contractors, not-for-profits, and private companies. His services include financial and compliance audits, review and compilation services, agreed-upon procedures engagements, Single Audits, and general consulting services
Prior to beginning his career as a public accountant, Gary served six years in the Tennessee Army National Guard.
Gary is a Certified Public Accountant and is active in his community where he is involved with numerous civic, professional, and charitable organizations including:
- Tennessee Society of Certified Public Accountants
- Accounting & Auditing Advisory Committee Member
- American Institute of Certified Public Accountants
- Treasurer of the East Tennessee Chapter of the National Contract Management Association
- Board Member of the Knoxville Chapter of the Association of Government Accountants
- Finance Committee Chair of Canvas Church
In addition, Gary has made presentations to the local chapters of the TSCPA, and AGA.
