Matt McDaniel is a Partner and leads Mercer's US Financial Strategy Group. In that role, he is responsible for the development and delivery of Mercer's intellectual capital around pension risk management; ensuring that clients receive Mercer's best thinking about investment strategy, funding policy, risk transfer, and journey planning. He provides integrated actuarial and investment advice to plan sponsors, from strategy to implementation and ongoing management services. He specializes in the area of pension risk management, helping organizations measure, mitigate, and monitor their pension risk exposure.
Mr. McDaniel joined Mercer in 2007 from another professional services firm. Since that time, he has also held other local and national leadership roles within Mercer, including US DB Risk Leader and Philadelphia Wealth business leader. He is a frequent speaker at industry conferences on pension risk topics, and has been quoted by numerous sources including The Wall Street Journal, Pensions & Investments, Bloomberg, Associated Press, and the New York Times.
Mr. McDaniel is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA), an Enrolled Actuary (EA), a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA), and a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Charterholder. He received his Bachelors degree in Economics from the University of Maryland at College Park.
