Speaker

Lane Montz

Lane began bringing his energy to our area’s 104-year-old Better Business Bureau when he accepted the CEO position last Fall. Since then, Lane has modernized systems, built new ethics education programs for youth and seniors, and significantly improved the BBB’s financial position.

Prior to taking the helm at BBB, Lane played a pivotal role as General Legal Counsel and Vice President of Operations for over 20 years at The Cousino Group, Inc. During his time there, Cousino produced over 29,000 projects of all shapes and sizes, initiated hurricane response teams, and started a government contracting division.

Lane holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Business and a juris doctor from the University of Toledo College of Law. He is (still) admitted to the Ohio and Michigan bars, as well as the U.S. District Court of Northern Ohio, but doesn’t actively practice anymore. Lane estimates he’s resolved well over 1,500 legal/business disputes in his 30+ years as lawyer and arbitrator.

Finally, Lane also serves as the Building Committee Chair at the Toledo Bar Association and tries to play violin in the Sylvania Community Orchestra.

Lane frequently preaches his core management philosophy, to the point where his staff is probably sick of hearing it!
