Dr. Kathleen Schuchard

Kathleen (Powers) Schuchard joined UT’s Department of Accounting and Information Management after receiving her Ph.D. in accounting from the University of Texas at Austin in Spring 2016.

Prior to obtaining her Ph.D., Kathleen worked as a tax manager with PricewaterhouseCoopers in Zurich, Switzerland, specializing in the preparation and audit of the income tax provision. She earned her undergraduate degree in business and accounting from North Carolina State University and her Master of Accounting from The Ohio State University. Kathleen is also a Certified Public Accountant, licensed in Virginia (inactive). Her research interests include the effect of corporate governance on firms’ tax policy, investors’ use of tax disclosures and tax-related frictions in capital markets. Kathleen’s research has been published in Review of Accounting Studies and The Accounting Review. Kathleen is teaching advanced accounting and business combinations to graduate accounting students.
