Jon Hunt

Background
Jon is an audit partner in KPMG-Chicago’s Technology, Media and Telecommunications (TMT) practice.  Jon has 15 years of experience advising public and privately held companies of varying sizes. 
 
From 2013 to 2016, Jon was in KPMG’s Audit Quality and Professional Practice   Group (AQPPG) (KPMG’s National Office) in New York, serving as a firm resource on various auditing and technical accounting topics including revenue recognition, business combinations, leases and debt and equity transactions as well as audit inspections (including audits of financial statements and internal control over financial reporting). 

Professional and Industry Experience
Jon has served a wide variety of technology and professional services clients throughout his career with KPMG with a focus on large, multi-national companies.  Jon has extensive experience in coordinating complex global audits, including those with global shared service centers. Jon has a thorough understanding of SEC and PCAOB rules and regulations and has been involved in debt and equity offerings.
While in AQPPG, Jon served as a reviewer in KPMG’s inspections group, which is designed to ensure audit engagements meet the firms and professional auditing standards, coauthored various publications and presented numerous training seminars related to the new revenue standard and other emerging accounting matters, and assisted engagement teams in technical accounting inquiries.  
Jon’s experience includes:  
  • Expertise in  a variety of technical accounting areas, including revenue recognition, business combinations, debt and equity transactions, share-based payment compensation, and income taxes;
  • In-depth knowledge and experience with SEC rules and regulations;
  • Serving on integrated audits of multinational SEC registrants; and
  • Leading the transition and successful completion of audits of new clients of KPMG (including a two year re-audit of a publicly-traded company).
