Laura Calhoun


Laura Calhoun has been representing employers and employees in Texas for more than 25 years on a wide range of employment law issues. She is board certified in Labor and Employment Law and is currently Senior Counsel at Clark Hill Strasburger’s Dallas-area office.

Laura’s breadth of experience includes representation of employers and employees on overtime claims/collective actions under the Fair Labor Standards Act; representation of employers and employees in unemployment and wage claims before the Texas Workforce Commission; counseling employers on compliance with state and federal employment laws, including drafting/reviewing employer policy manuals and conducting management/staff training on sexual harassment and other anti-discrimination/harassment/retaliation policies; and providing guidance on hiring, performance evaluations, disciplinary action and termination, among other things. She also has briefed a variety of employment law issues over the years, including a favorable case for her firm’s client involving the Americans With Disabilities Act which, which was heard by the United States Supreme Court (Cleveland v. Policy Management Systems, 526 U.S. 795, 143 L. Ed. 2d 966, 119 S. Ct. 1597 (1999)).

Laura received a B.S. from Texas A&M University and the J.D. from the South Texas College of Law in Houston. She was named to the Texas Super Lawyers list (2012-2019) and the Super Lawyers/Top Women of 2019 list. She currently serves as a board member of the Plano Bar Association, is a member of the Collin County Bar Association – Corporate Counsel Section, and is a member of the Employment Law Section of the State Bar of Texas.
