Mr. Jay Smith, MBA

Jay has extensive experience in multiple industries in the areas of financial modelling around mergers and acquisitions, inventory matters, forensic accounting, bank covenants, and “what-if” scenarios.  He has also built LIFO inventory models for 10,000+ SKUs, performed customized scenario in the areas of business development and financing needs, created monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting packages, has assisted with the development of numerous dashboards, and Executive Management reporting metrics.
 
Jay’s responsibility at Jefferson Wells is to manage all finance and accounting related projects for the region and to be a resource for clients if they have any technical questions or need guidance on specific areas, such as technical accounting, SEC reporting process improvement, accounting month-end close process optimization, and data analytics.
 
Jay also serves on the Executive Board for FEI (Financial Executives International) Dallas Chapter and regularly presents thought leadership to large audiences and teaches college-level Excel modelling classes to clients’ accounting and finance departments.
 
Jay has his BSM (Bachelor of Science in Management) from Tulane University, his MBA from the Darden School of Business at The University of Virginia, and has completed his studies in business and data analytics at Harvard University.  In addition, Jay is currently working to get his CFE (Certified Fraud Examiners), PMP (Project Management Professional), and Tableau certifications.
