John Simmons

John began his career with 17 years at KPMG’s Tampa office as an audit partner with clients including Jabil, Publix, Red Lobster, Tropicana, Checkers, Tires Plus, Danka, Pinch-A-Penny and others. He led the central and west coast Florida technology and consumer industry practices. He joined Checkers and was its CFO when it opened 160 company and franchise restaurants in one year ($500M systemwide sales). He later joined Eckerd ($5B sales) which was then merged with J.C. Penney’s drug store business (combined $10B sales). John led a private equity firm, Quantum Capital Partners, which grew Lifestyle Family Fitness to a Top 10 fitness club chain (John was CEO from the recession until its ultimate sale to LA Fitness and Lifetime Fitness). He was also President of a Top 10 internet residential real estate sales firm to prepare it for sale to a PE firm. John has been a board member for five public companies (currently Kforce, Bonds.com, MedQuist (a public subsidiary of Philips), TRC (Technology Research Corporation), and SRI Surgical) and numerous private companies. He currently advises high-growth companies on preparing for, and executing, exits.
