John brings more than 40 years of insurance experience to his position as Regional President of USI Insurance Services’ Connecticut operation. John presently serves as a member of USI New England’s senior management team.
He began his career with the Prudential Insurance Company. After five years with a large California broker he moved back East and became Managing Director for the Southern Connecticut office of Sedgwick Group plc, one of the world’s largest insurance brokers. He later served as Director of the National Retail Division of North America for Sedgwick. John joined Damman Insurance as a partner in 1994 and four years later it became the foundation agency for Webster Insurance, now USI Insurance Services.
A graduate of Kings College in Wilkes-Barre, PA, John has earned his Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and Certified Insurance Consultant (CIC) designations. He successfully completed a Business Mastery Program through the University of Connecticut Business School.
John previously sat on the Board of Directors of Webster Insurance and holds membership in the Professional Insurance Agents Association, the Society of CPCU and the Council of Insurance Agents and Brokers. He serves on numerous national insurance advisory panels.
John served on the Bank and Insurance Securities Association (BISA) Board of Directors and was a member of Marsh Berry’s “Bank” Agency network and the Bank Insurance Group (BIG).
