Mr. Jim Long

Mr. Jim Long holds a BS Degree in Accounting from Northern Illinois University and an MPA degree from the University of Texas in Austin. He was recently acknowledged by the Texas State Board of Accountancy for his 50 years of continuous service as a CPA. He was very active in the Texas Society of CPA’s and served as Regional Ethics Coordinator for the Texas State Board of Accountancy. He also served as VP and President of the University of Texas/IC2 Entrepreneurs Council working at expanding business in Austin.

His professional career included practicing as an auditor with Arthur Andersen’s Chicago office before moving to Texas and teaching at the University of Texas. He moved to Houston with KPMG advancing to the role as an Audit Supervisor.

Mr. Long left public accounting to assume various roles with Chase Bank (TCB) and served as a VP and International Controller for this multibillion dollar domestic and offshore subsidiary with offices in seven cities abroad.

He left banking to set up his own International practice consisting of working with domestic companies seeking to expand international operations. In addition, he served as an expert witness in banking and financial matters related to the demise of various financial institutions during the collapse of the real estate and energy markets.

Mr. Long served as FEI Austin’s membership VP (90 to 92) and as FEI Austin’s Chapter President (92-93) which was recognized by the National office for the best program in the US and Canada. He also served on the National Executive Committee (93-96) and chaired the National Membership Committee (1994). He served as the First Southwestern Area VP (94-95) for all 13 chapters in the region and locally Chaired the Academic Relations Program (94-95) for which Austin was recognized by the National office for the best programs of the year.

In 2007 at the International meeting of FEI, Mr. Long was designated as the 20th recipient of the National “Distinguished Service Award” in its 75 year history. He commonly jokes that as many of those before him received their awards posthumously, he feels that perhaps he is being sent a message!
