Alex Gee

Rev. Dr. Alexander Gee, is Lead Pastor of Fountain of Life Church, president and founder of the Nehemiah Center for Urban Leadership Development as well as its renowned initiative, Justified Anger. Gee is a husband and father, as well as a writer, adjunct faculty worker, community activist, life coach, international lecturer, and relief worker. Gee is considered a serial social entrepreneur, having started five successful companies and initiatives, and currently directs nearly 40 employees.

For nearly 30 years, Gee has established himself as a thought leader in leadership development and cross-cultural relationships, both nationally and internationally. Locally, through Dr. Gee’s vision, the programs of Nehemiah have focused on youth empowerment and leadership development, family and community wellness, economic development, and reentry services for the formerly incarcerated. Nehemiah was also recently awarded a million dollar grant from the UW-Madison School of Medicine & Public Health for continuing its work in addressing health disparities among African Americans in Wisconsin

His Justified Anger-sponsored history class, Black History For a New Day, is currently in its 6th year and is responsible thus far for the in-person and virtual education of over 2,700 attendees. Additionally, Gee has taught or lectured worldwide, in such varied places as India, South Africa, Cambodia, South Korea, and Canada. 

In recognition of his work in the community, Dr. Gee has received numerous honors that range from The City of Madison’s Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Humanitarian Award in 1994, and offered an inspirational message at the White House for President H.W. Bush’s staff. In 1995 the Madison Community Foundation honored him for his “Outstanding Contributions to the Community,” and he has been saluted by the Wisconsin-State Journal as one of the “Ten Who Made a Difference.”

Dr. Gee studied at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Fuller Seminary, and Bakke Graduate University, where he earned his doctorate. He is the author of two books and host for the award-winning podcast, Black Like Me.
