Laura Shiffman

Laura Shiffman is a Partner at EY in the Finance Accounting Advisory Practice (FAAS) in Chicago, IL.  Ms. Shiffman has over 12 years of experience partnering with clients to address the impact of regulatory and transformational change in financial reporting and related systems and processes.

 

From 2019 to 2011, Laura served as the Professional Accounting Fellow at FEI where she was responsible for the accounting policy actions including overseeing advocacy, research, education and thought leadership in support of FEI’s network of senior-level financial executive members.  As part of this role, Ms. Shiffman liaised with the Chief Accounting Officers and Controllers that comprise FEI’s Committee on Corporate Reporting.  She also interfaced with other FEI technical committees and participates in various collaboration outlets of FEI.

 

From 2014 through 2019, Ms. Shiffman was a member of the FAAS National Revenue Recognition Team, helping clients understand and implement ASC 606, Revenue from Contracts with Customers which included the development of new accounting policies, processes and system requirements. In 2013, she also served in a rotational role in the FAAS Technical Accounting Advisory Group (TAAG) and provided in-depth research and technical consultation assistance on sensitive accounting and reporting issues.

 

Prior to joining EY, Laura was a Post-Graduate Technical Assistant (PTA) at the FASB. Ms. Shiffman holds an M.S. in Accountancy and a B.B.A. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.  She is a Certified Public Accountant in Illinois.  She lives in the suburbs of Chicago with her husband, Jason, and two sons, Henry (6) and Jack (2).
