As Co-founder and CEO at SailPoint Technologies, Mark McClain brings to bear more than 30 years of experience in the enterprise technology market. Under Mark’s direction for the last 12 years, SailPoint has grown from a venture-backed startup into a publicly traded leader in the identity management software market. Under his leadership, SailPoint went public on the NYSE in November 2017, making it the most successful tech IPO in Austin in the last four years. Also due in large part to Mark’s leadership, SailPoint is an award-winning company. SailPoint has been named a Best Places to Work company for the last nine consecutive years by the Austin Business Journal and on Glassdoor’s Top Five Best Places to Work in the Small to Medium Sized Business category in both 2017 and 2018. As a respected business leader in Austin and in the broader technology community, Mark has also been honored over the years for his leadership skills, including in Glassdoor’s Top CEO awards in 2016 and 2018, Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year awards for Central Texas in 2015 and the Austin Business Journal’s ‘Best CEO’ awards in 2013.
Prior to SailPoint, Mark founded Waveset Technologies, which was ultimately acquired by Sun Microsystems, where Mark served as vice president of software marketing. Mark’s career also includes diverse experience in international sales and marketing with Hewlett-Packard and IBM/Tivoli Systems. He holds a BA in Economics from Point Loma Nazarene University and an MBA from the UCLA Anderson School of Management.
