Jonathan Wiggins

Jonathan Wiggins is a Deputy Chief Accountant in the Office of the Chief Accountant (OCA) at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Mr. Wiggins manages the activities of OCA’s Accounting Group, which advises the Commission on accounting matters and works closely with private sector accounting bodies such as the Financial Accounting Standards Board. Public companies, auditors, and other divisions and offices within the SEC regularly consult with OCA’s Accounting Group on the application of accounting standards and financial disclosure requirements.

 

Mr. Wiggins previously worked in the SEC’s Division of Corporation Finance, which seeks to ensure that investors are provided with material information in order to make informed investment decisions, both when a company initially offers its securities to the public and on an ongoing basis as it continues to give information to the marketplace.   Prior to joining the SEC staff, Mr. Wiggins conducted financial statement audits at Ernst & Young in McLean, VA, primarily serving the technology and manufacturing industries, and served as an accounting researcher in the firm’s National Accounting Office in New York.
