David B. Walls is president and CEO of Austin Industries, the parent company to Austin Commercial, Austin Bridge & Road, and Austin Industrial. He began his career with Austin Commercial in 1980 and advanced to become one of Austin Commercial’s premier field project managers before being named vice president and director of operations in 1988. David has served as president of Austin Commercial and president of Austin Bridge & Road, in addition to his current CEO position. Austin is known throughout the construction industry for its world-class safety performance in all its companies.
David has served for over 22 years as a trustee of Baylor Scott & White Health Care System. He also has served on the TEXO board, and the board of the Dallas Regional Chamber. He also has co-chaired the independent commission of the American Road & Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA) charged with the implementation of a new industry-developed Safety Certification for Transportation Project ProfessionalsTM (SCTPP) program.
David holds a B.S. in Construction Technology from the University of Houston, an M.S. in Building Construction from Texas A&M University, and a Ph.D. in Leadership from Dallas Baptist University. He has also authored books on world-class safety and world-class leadership.
David and his wonderful wife, Jana, have been married for 45 years. She is a great mother, the bedrock of the family, and makes David a better man. They are blessed to have four children and ten grandchildren. David and Jana are members of First Baptist Church in Rockwall, Texas.
