Michael is an accomplished sports executive with a proven track record of providing financial leadership and strategic thinking in order to meet and exceed business goals. In September 2017, he joined the Sacramento Kings as the SVP - Finance where he oversees the finance, business intelligence and ticket operations functions for the Kings, the Golden 1 Center and the company’s other entertainment and real estate holdings.
Prior to joining the Kings, Michael owned MJW Sports Management Services, a sports consulting firm specializing in financial and operational advisory services. MJW Sports Management Services had several sports clients including the Kings, where he assisted management with several finance and operational matters surrounding the launch of the Golden 1 Center and surrounding mixed use development.
Prior to forming his consulting company, Whitehead worked as a finance executive for various sports organizations including the National Basketball Association, Madison Square Garden and Major League Soccer. Before his career in professional sports, Whitehead spent three years with the public accounting firm Ernst & Young LLP in New York.
Whitehead graduated with a degree in accounting and finance from Manhattan College and held his CPA in New York state.
